Pastor Erskine Dodson is our Senior Pastor. Before conversion, Pastor Dodson received a Bachelor Degree in Business and Finances from Strayer University in Washington, D.C. He worked for seven years as an accountant for the federal government. He met his wife in undergraduate school in Durham, NC. Pastor and his wife, Phyllis, have been married for 39 years as of May 9th 2009. They have three children: two daughters, the oldest is Angelita, then Felicia, and one son, Erskine II, who is the youngest. All of them love the Lord and are walking with Him.
Pastor and his wife were brought up as religious and devout church goers-yet not saved. Both of them had just come off a fast asking God to take away their emptiness. Yes, they had a new home, finances were good as an accountant; yet they had a sense of incompleteness. God by His grace saved them both that evening, and within two years of being saved, they had their home up for sale and moved to Syracuse, NY where Pastor sensed the call for urban church planting. He received a Graduate Degree in Theology from The Empire State Baptist Seminary in Liverpool, NY and a Masters of Ministry and will soon to have a Doctorate of Ministries, both from Baptist Bible Seminary in Clark Summit, PA.
Pastor Dodson planted a church in Syracuse, NY and brought the work to self-supporting status. After 20 years, God pricked his heart to move on. He moved to the Mid-West in Indianapolis, IN where he was a Professor over Pastoral and Urban Ministries at Crossroads Bible College. After three years of teaching at the College full time, he sensed the call of God to go back into the pastorate full time. He is still teaching part time at Crossroads Bible College. His strong passion is to pastor in an urban setting. He believes that urban America is the most neglected mission field in this country. There is a dire need for more Bible colleges, seminaries and sound churches in our urban context.
