Benevolence Assistance Fund

Initial Request for Benevolence:
- For TBC members:
- TBC will approach initial requests with a focus on meeting the need with minimal scrutiny of the financial situation. If this is your first request, please put N/A in financial information and employer information and let us know the nature of the need. A member of the Benevolence fund will reach out to you.
- For non-TBC members:
- If you have not been actively involved (i.e. regular attendance) you would be not be considered an active member.
- Will need to complete the entirety of the Benevolence Fund form to seek assistance.
- Additional financial information may be required at the discretion of the Benevolence Fund Committee.
Non Member Requests, TBC Member Second & Subsequent Requests for Benevolence
- TBC Members making additional requests & All Non TBC Member Requests:
- Fill out the entirety of the Benevolence Fund form.
- Discuss your financial situation more thoroughly with the Benevolence Fund Committee.
- Financial counseling/classes may be required by committee in order to develop a financial plan going forward as a condition for receiving assistance.
Review Process:
- The Benevolence Fund Committee will review all requests.
- Decisions will be made based on:
- The urgency and nature of the need.
- Available funds in the benevolence fund.
- Other relevant factors, such as financial circumstances and previous assistance received.
- Decision Notification:
- Applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision in a timely manner.
- Approved applicants will receive assistance according to the committee’s decision.
- The committee will seek to make distributions of benevolence funds in the form of direct payment to need instead of cash (i.e. check made payable to landlord, utility provider) or through supplying the need itself (i.e. grocery gift card, gas card or direct fill up, households items requested).
Follow-up and Evaluation:
- Follow-up may be conducted with recipients to ensure assistance meets their needs appropriately.
- Evaluation of the effectiveness of the assistance provided will be undertaken periodically.
Confidentiality and Respect:
- All information provided by applicants will be treated with confidentiality and respect.
- Discussions regarding individual requests will be held in confidence within the Benevolence Fund Committee.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- All requests, decisions, and related documentation will be accurately recorded and kept for reference and auditing purposes.
Continuous Improvement:
- The benevolence fund process will be periodically reviewed and refined to ensure efficiency, fairness, and effectiveness in meeting the needs of the church community.
